THE OPPORTUNITY
This is policy work with teeth.
As Senior Associate, Building Electrification Policy, you will help shape the rules that determine how buildings consume energy across the United States.
You are not just analyzing policy. You are helping write the playbook for electrification.
THE ROLE
You will operate across policy, data, and stakeholder ecosystems to drive building decarbonization.
You will:
Conduct deep research on energy policy, utility regulation, and electrification strategies.
Analyze legislative and regulatory developments across key U.S. regions.
Develop clear, evidence-backed policy recommendations.
Translate complex technical insights into actionable guidance.
Lead projects and workstreams from concept through execution.
Engage with policymakers, utilities, regulators, and industry leaders.
Support coalition building and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
Contribute to strategy development and identify emerging policy opportunities.
Produce reports, briefs, presentations, and external-facing insights.
Support grant proposals and new project development.
PROGRAM FOCUS
The Carbon-Free Buildings Program targets:
All-electric residential and commercial buildings.
Energy efficiency and appliance standards.
Utility reform and electrification incentives.
Building codes, financing, and equitable implementation strategies.
Market transformation at scale.
WHAT THEY’RE LOOKING FOR
You are analytical, structured, and impact-driven.
You likely have:
4+ years of experience in energy policy, climate policy, or related fields.
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders.
Ability to simplify complex policy and technical topics.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A collaborative mindset with independent execution ability.
Commitment to equitable and market-based climate solutions.
Preferred edge:
Experience with state agencies, utilities, or NGOs.
Knowledge of building systems, energy economics, or electrification.
Familiarity with U.S. regulatory and legislative processes.
Experience in stakeholder facilitation and coalition work.
COMPENSATION
Base salary: $84,000 – $103,000
Bonus: 5% annual target
